Where Camp Meets Mental Health
Camp Therapyology launched in West Bloomfield, Michigan during the summer of 2020. It is our pilot program, created to provide social connection and emotional support due to the isolation many kids and teens experienced from the pandemic. That summer, most camps made the gut-wrenching decision to not open. At the same time, Camp Therapyology was born.
The pandemic reminded us all how much we need human connection and a safe place to be ourselves and be heard. The social isolation took a serious mental toll on so many kids, teens, and young adults too. Camp Therapyology builds that connection; in a world where we CRAVE connection.
Bringing that fun camp-like feeling to you, year-round!
That carefree, safe place you felt at camp where you could truly be yourself, we’re recreating that. Now offering our Camp Therapyology: Special Editions. These highlight specific topics and communities that you might identify with.

We know that coming out can be challenging. You don’t know who will support you or how family and friends will react. Providing support and a safe space to be who yourself is why we created Camp Therapyology: Rainbow Edition for LGBTQ+ youth! You may be looking for support and guidance. Or, a safe space to be yourself as you navigate your identity. No matter your situation, we are here for you.
You may have tried to reach out to friends and family members. But, they may not have been the most helpful or know much about LGBTQ+ issues and experiences. Or, you’re tired of talking about your struggles with people who don’t get what you’re going through. A lack of support and understanding can be frustrating and exhausting.
This program aims to provide a non-judgmental, supportive environment to explore your identity. At the same time, we will learn more about others in the LGBTQIA+ community. In this safe space, you will find an inclusive community that understands what you’re going through. This community can share experiences and insight about obstacles to overcome. Imagine you’re sitting in your bedroom in San Francisco. You’re scrolling on Instagram after school. Then, you come across a post from one of your (so-called) “friends.” She posted a photo of her and some of your other friends together. Hanging out…without you…Your anxiety starts to spike, and your mind begins to overthink; “Why wasn’t I invited? Are they mad at me? Did I do something wrong? Do they not like me anymore? Are we not friends and they aren’t inviting me to hang out? Aaaahhhh!!!”
We get it! Social media has made us much more hyperaware of what our friends are up to. As a result, we find ourselves comparing our lives to others again and again. Is it healthy? No! Does this increase our anxiety? Yes! What can you do about it? Glad you asked…
That’s why we created: Camp Therapyology: ‘You CAN Sit With Us’ Edition

This Camp: Girls’ edition will provide you with a non-judgmental, safe space. Here, you can discuss the issues you face while helping improve your self-esteem and self-confidence. Plus, you will build new friendships through fun games and activities!

This is due to a change in the family dynamics and structure. As a result, this disruption to their lives can bring up many different issues. Camp Therapyology: Gaming Edition
Ever wonder what benefit we get from games and role plays? These days many kids and teens play video games against other kids… by themselves. But we see games and role play as a learning opportunity for kids and teens. It allows them to build their social skills, improve confidence and self-esteem.
Camp Therapyology: Gaming Edition enters the chat.
This camp provides kids and teens with a way to build important skills. This includes things like friendship-building, improving self-confidence, cooperation, and communication skills. Each session will include a different game to foster creativity, interpersonal skills, and social engagement.
