So you’re looking for mental health support for yourself or your teen? But, taking the time to drive to and from therapy every week isn’t practical right now. You may live in an area where there are few therapists nearby. Or, you’re looking for a therapist who specializes in the areas that you need help with. Or, you’re just very busy, and conventional therapy doesn’t fit into your schedule…
We get it. That’s why our therapists offer online therapy from anywhere in Michigan! Convenient, right?
We know life gets busy. If we’ve learned anything over the past year, it is that taking care of your mental health has to be a top priority. Adding one more thing to your to-do list may feel overwhelming. Yet, it is necessary to get help dealing with issues you are going through. You’re making the time for online therapy, so you want to see a skilled therapist who makes you feel comfortable. After all, you don’t want to feel like you’re in a sterile doctor’s office. You want to work with someone with whom you can build a connection! (pun intended) ; )
Benefits of Online Therapy in Michigan
It’s convenient
Online therapy allows you to meet with a therapist at a time that works in your schedule. Furthermore, you can access therapy services from anywhere in the state of Michigan. This removes the need to commute to appointments or having to take time off work/school. Besides, who wants to sit in traffic, amiright?
It’s private and secure
Many tweens, teens, and young adults feel nervous about their friends finding out they’re in therapy. So the thought of seeing someone they know at a therapist’s office may make them very anxious. Online therapy in Michigan eliminates this worry. You’re able to meet with a therapist from the comfort of your own home with privacy from a secure virtual platform.
Working with a specialist
One of the best parts of online therapy is access to therapists you wouldn’t normally see due to distance. Our counseling office is in the metro-Detroit area. But, we can see clients anywhere in the state of Michigan! This allows clients from small towns like Petosky, MI, or Charlevoix, MI access to care for children, tweens, teens, and young adults. Furthermore, our therapists specialize in helping clients who identify as LGBTQ+ navigate a variety of mental health concerns such as divorce and trauma.
Effective Online Therapy
Did you know online therapy can be as effective as in-person counseling? Our therapists understand and have become skilled at online therapy. You can rest assured you or your teen will be getting stellar care even over a computer or smart device.
We help children, tweens, teens, and young adults navigate many mental health concerns.

How Online Therapy in Michigan Works
After a year of Zoom calls/virtual school, you may already know how online meeting platforms work. Online therapy is no different. We offer counseling on a secure telehealth platform. After making an appointment with our office you will receive a link for your session. Then, you will log in and meet with your therapist. Easy peasy, right?
One thing we often suggest to online therapy clients is logging in for their session a few minutes early. Take at least 5-10 minutes to do some deep breathing techniques. Relax so that you can clear your mind before meeting with your therapist. This helps you prepare to talk about the things bringing you to therapy. It also ensures you get the most out of your session.
If you’re using online therapy for your child or tween, this still applies. Help them log in early and encourage them to shake all their wiggles out. Take some deep breaths to calm their body and mind before talking with their therapist.
A note on privacy and confidentiality
if you’re living at home or with a roommate
At Therapyology we assist many youths while they navigate sensitive topics. These might include coming out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, bullying, or turbulent family dynamics. As therapists, it is our job to make sure you feel safe and comfortable talking about these hard topics. If privacy is an issue while you live at home or with a roommate, please discuss this with your therapist. We’re here to help you get the most out of therapy. You can send them a DM using the chat feature so anyone around you won’t overhear what you’re saying. Furthermore, we encourage you to try and find a safe and private place in your home to talk. Some clients have their sessions in the bathroom with the water running. Others play music in the background or wear headphones. If you’re not sure what to do, your therapist can assist you in coming up with a solution.
Parents, please know that building a positive relationship with your child is something we take very seriously. We understand you’re concerned about their well-being. But, the best way to ensure success is to allow your child to freely talk to their therapist. This will help put to rest any fears that you are listening to and analyzing everything they say. Rest assured, if your child is a danger to themselves or others we will take the necessary steps to make sure everyone is safe and you’re made aware of the situation.
